Thanks to the team at Vancouver Fashion Week for the blog post, a little bit about me and my jewellery for the Sunday Showcase on September 24th, 2017.
Created by designer Trudy Wynans, Toodlebunny was launched in the spring of 2016 and has since then joined the ranks of talented jewelry designers in Vancouver. Her handcrafted designs feature everything from brass, gold, wood and semiprecious stones. Check out her Instagram to take a closer look at the pieces she has made.
VFW: What’s your most favourite piece that you have designed, so far? Why?
TW: There are so many favourites, but probably the most recent one is a statement piece I made fall 2016. It was one of those ones that I had a hard time selling because I loved it SO much! This piece looked fabulous on my client, so I was happy to see it go to a good home and knew she would adore it as much as I did. The piece was the Cleo Collar with hammered brass polished to a brilliant shine and a cascade of silver aura quartz points.
VFW: Do you remember what the first piece of jewelry you designed? What was it?
TW: I’ve been designing for just over 11 years. I believe the first piece I created was a sterling silver ring made in a casting class I took with the Vancouver School Board. I still have that ring and wear it on occasion. Although my current work is more focused on one of a kind pieces using mixed media and revamping vintage elements, those first experiences in silversmithing are really what made me want to become a jewelry designer.
VFW: Do you own a special piece of jewelry that is important to you? Something with significant meaning?
TW: My partner and I have been together for over 20 years. We never got married but he did give me a pair of diamond stud earrings about ten years ago. I wear these everyday and I signify these as my ‘ring’ and our commitment to each other.
