There is a bit of a back story to the design of these asymmetrical earrings. The original version was done with garnet and I had re-purposed a part of a vintage brooch to create the left side of the earring. As with most of my one of a kind pieces, I had posted these on Instagram as well as cross posted these on my Facebook Page. I had responded to a new client that wanted to purchase these on my FB page as well as responding to another long time client on my Instagram page the following day. Problem was that I made an error in communicating to both parties that the ONE pair of earrings was available to purchase! (I must have been very sleepy that day!) Trying to cover all fronts I created the black version with onyx pictured above as Version II. I had sent out the original earrings to Client 1 and created Version II in black onyx to see if my long time client would like them as much as the original. She really preferred the garnet in the original earrings, so I was back to the drawing board with a new one of a kind design incorporating this semiprecious stone into the earring design.
I hunted around the studio to find some components that would pair well with the faceted garnet I had used in the original. I came across some vintage cross/daggers and added a rivoli crystal setting in a deep ruby color to compliment the garnet. Client 2 was super pleased with the new version of the mismatched earrings, a win win all around! So long story coming to an end, I do have one pair of these earrings available in the online shop in the black onyx if you're keen on this design!
